The cost of solar energy is a question that many have that is really considering applying this method to their property whether it is their home or business. The actual costs, however, can depend on many different factors such as the size of your home, the amount of electricity that you use, the actual system of solar energy that you use, and how much sunshine that you receive in your specific location. Certain system do have set prices for their installation, depending on the company that you go with to provide your solar energy system, but how much it costs to run factors in many of these things.

The set prices for the units themselves are usually consistent from the many different supplies and you can look at paying anywhere from $2,000 all the way up to $4000 for a solar powered hot water system and anywhere from $8,000 to $10,000 for a photovoltaic system that is specific to 1kW. On average, in the United States, families with a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home will need a 1 ½ to a 3kW system which can go anywhere from $13,000 all the way up to $27,000. A lot of manufactures for these systems do offer rebates and these prices reflect before rebate price. This is solely for the system itself, not the actual monthly costs for energy.

It would be difficult to so exactly how much a monthly amount would be for solar power though each of the manufactures can give you a rate that will reflect their system. Generally speaking, you will be paying roughly $4-$10 per watt used, depending on the specific system that you go with and its particular efficiency. It is suggested, before you buy one, that you find out from each of the well known manufacturers about what their system offers in terms of price for what you need exactly so that you can be completely informed before your purchase.

For many years, people have been trying to find ways of storing energy. In fact, the main reason that the electric car has not gained more popularity than it already has is for the simple fact of storing energy, or the charge of the batteries, is much less efficient to that of say, gasoline. If you compare storing energy to gasoline, and remove the harmful aspect of what the gasoline does to the environment, then gasoline is still (with higher oil prices) the best choice to make because an electric car may take several hours to recharge the many batteries, yet only get somewhere in the vicinity of 100 mile drive time, while a few gallons of gas can take you just as far and takes a mere 4 to 5 minutes to add to a car and back at it again, and in addition to this, the amount of weight that the gas will add to the car is much less as well when compared to the weight of the batteries.

Storing energy can be much more efficient in other methods and can be very beneficial to a homeowner or property owner, though as there would be some sorts of solar power that would charge throughout the day in addition to its use, and still run all night long as well. This is storing energy because it takes in enough energy to run the certain item, or items, and stores enough to keep it through the night into the next day, and sometimes enough for 2-3 days, depending on the size of the unit.

Storing energy can be accomplished in many different ways. Wind mills, solar energy, water turbines, and more can power devices that are specifically design to store energy. This is a great idea to have as a backup for the terrible nights that you have surely experienced without power, now can be eliminated.

Heating your home with solar energy can be much less challenging than you may have anticipated prior to reading this article. You should know that you not only can produce electricity from solar energy, but you can also heat your home, business, or any other property that you wish, simply by letting the sun do all the work for you. These systems come in one of two ways. You can either opt to heat your home with solar energy from fluid, or air, by solar energy collectors, depending on your personal preference as they both do basically the same thing, but each has their somewhat differences.

The liquid type of solar energy that would heat your home is where liquid is passed through the solar cells and heated by the sun by absorbing the radiation and eventually passing through to the space inside of a property that is to be heated through the needed duct work. In the process, the fluid is transformed to air, so there would not be nor added humidity in the property either. The air type system would capture the exterior air in solar panels and absorb the radiation from the sun as well and let it collect in the system until heated to the desired temperature and eventually distributed throughout the interior space desired.

Either way, heating your home with solar energy can be one of the best financial moves that you can make in order to help pad your wallet or bank account. In addition to this, it will add a great value to your home and it worth, if you ever were to try to sell your home and if not, you could reap the benefits of the extra money saved each month on your monthly heating bill, helping to add to your bottom dollar, and paying for the system itself.

The first set of solar powered cars was introduced in July of 2004 and hit the market with a boom. The popularity was extensive as these cars were said to be relatively inexpensive, and ran off of batteries. They also did not emit carbon monoxide into the air like tradition gas powered car do and that really perked the interest of many environmentalists all over the world. The solar powered cars popularity has since cooled off a bit as there are some restrictions as opposed to the cars that we commonly see on the road.

Solar powered cars run off of batteries that are charged from radiant heat from the sun, although they can only run for a stretch of about 100 miles on a full charge before they become dormant and need recharging. When compared to a gasoline powered car, that can go that same distance on just a few gallons of gas that can be put into the car in a matter of minutes, making it more convenient for drivers. Also, these solar power cars can have many batteries on board weighing in excess of 1,000 pounds where as a gas powered car can hold enough gas to go the equivalent distance and only weigh a mere 20 to 30 pounds. These solar powered cars are also restricted in the speeds that they can achieve, depending on battery strength, which is another downfall.

The benefits of using solar powered cars are the simple fact that you will not have gasoline charges to keep your car running, and they are also environmentally friendly as well. Gas powered cars can emit the carbon monoxide, which is said to be responsible for global warming, and make them harmful for not only the environment, but all the people that are breathing the same air as well.

Solar power efficient appliances are becoming increasingly popular among homeowners all over the world die to the simple fact that they are much less expensive than making an entire home solar powered, yet still add to the effort given to make the most out of environmentally friendly solar power. With this in mind, you should take a few moments to understand the differences and the advantages to some appliances that are solar powered.

Refrigerators are great solar power efficient appliances. One of the great things about solar refrigerators is the simple fact that they can bring the convenience of a refrigerator and freezer in one at a very low cost. They are mostly thermostat controlled which allows you to change the temperature of the refrigerator and the freezer like you would with any. There is very little noise as it works because the power is a natural consistent flow.

Not every appliance is solar powered; therefore, appliances that are “efficient” are the best alternative. These appliances will conserve the energy that is needed to run that appliance and leave you with what you expect from that appliance. Chest freezers, stoves, dishwashers, washers and dryers, and microwaves are all types of appliances that can be bought to save on energy and finances. If you use these appliances which are efficient, they will usually cost a little more up front, but you will end up saving money in the long run as they are well worth the money and can perform efficiently for a lifetime with the mandatory maintenance.

With this in mind, solar power efficient appliance may not be the all out solar powered home or office, but it can really add up in savings for you and your family a little at a time with each appliance. In addition to this, you will have still helped out the environment because anything is better than nothing and if everyone in the world would use only one solar power efficient appliance, the environment can be greatly improved in just a short time. Now, imagine if everyone had several of these appliances.

With many people looking into “going green,” most have one simple question, what is alternative energy? This is in fact “going green” as far as alternative energy to power certain objects, specifically in your home or business. Alternative energy is basically a term that is used to describe the source of usable energy that is used in order to replace the fuel sources that many know as their traditional electricity. With alternative fuel, as well, you will be eliminating all of the hazardous emissions that are let out into the environment when using the traditional fuel sources that are more commonly used.

Alternative energy is rapidly taking over as one of the very best methods is powering a home or business because of its money saving ability, as well as the environmentally friendly aspect of things. The whole process can not only help the environment, but it can also help the health of those with severe allergies as well as some of the pollutants that traditional fuel sources produce being linked to certain cancer problems as well.

In general, alternative energy is simply the use of renewable energy, be it solar, water, or wind, without all of harmful and less desirable emissions from the burning of fossil fuels such as carbon dioxide. This is what is said to be the primary cause of global warming all over the universe and with the use of this alternative energy, you can help to reverse the effect, with only a simple investment, not to mention, you will save money while doing so as well. This does, however, not include the use of nuclear energy, which seems to be a whole different ball game. This is not one of the alternative energy sources that have been described in this article as it will, unlike alternative energy, produce harmful emissions.

Solar power lighting on the exterior of buildings is probably the most common part of solar power energy that is utilized in today’s society. This is partly to do with the simple fact that many people didn’t want to rely solely on solar power to light the insides of their homes, but as things advance and solar power lighting is becoming more and more versatile, we are beginning to see this form of alternative energy take over many buildings in the world today.

One of the greatest parts of solar power lighting outside of any building is the fact that there is no need to hook up and electrical cords, or run wires as most of the solar lights have solar panels mounted right on the light itself, eliminating the need for electrical cords and wires. In addition to this, designers of these lights have created many desirable styles of solar power lighting, so that it adds more than just efficiency, but sleek style as well and great light on your property.

Among homeowners that have solar powered lighting installed among their properties, the low maintenance is nearly none as the LED bulbs will last for years before going bad, and the charge of these light can last anywhere from 10 to 20 hours on one single charge. The best part of it, the lights charge every day that there is sunlight, and continue to last all night and well into the next morning when the charging starts once again. With knowing this, you can understand how there is little to no maintenance whatsoever with solar power lighting in the home or office, or any other property for that matter. While not having to maintain the lighting, the only thing left to so is sit back and enjoy the oasis of a view from your solar power lighting.

Solar energy collecting as an alternative energy source is something great to really think about applying to your own property. As we know it, solar panels generate their power based upon the sunlight throughout the day, or days, and turns that into electricity that we can use in our own homes but nowadays, many solar energy companies have implemented energy collecting as a mere back up plan for those dreary days, or stretch of days that you have no sunlight. Most solar systems are good producers even on overcast days, though energy collecting has really raised a few eyebrows as to how it can improve the quality of solar energy systems.

Collecting solar energy could really help out in the events of some sort of natural disaster such as hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, tsunamis, and more as these places will likely be the only that still have powers if the disaster has put many people out of power for an extended period of time and with the stored energy that the solar energy source has collected, most place will most like never even lose a minute of power, leaving them in much better shape than the majority of the people and not only for survival issues, but convenience as well.

Many folks have already turned to solar energy as an alternative energy source and every day that scientists and developers test and improve their theories, the efficiency is getting greater and greater. Some 17 years ago, solar power energy cost somewhere around $8 to $10 per kilowatt used and now, due to the ability to store energy and use it as an alternative energy source, that number has been cut in half to approximately $4 to $5 per kilowatt used, making is a huge money save, and much more efficient and convenient as well.

There are many solar energy advantages and disadvantages. The advantages greatly outweigh the disadvantage, although they are there, and you will have to be the one to make the ultimate decision as to if this type of energy source is right for you and your family, by the pros and cons of what it has to offer.

As many know, it saves you money. It may cost a bit more in the beginning, but that is a mere investment in your home, plus, the money you will save each month will build up enough to where the system will pay for itself. It is also environmentally friendly as it is a renewable source of energy and doesn’t put off any emissions into the atmosphere as do the traditional methods of producing energy. It is also extremely low maintenance, and sometimes considered no maintenance, as you will not have wires to hook up and replace, and is completely rechargeable by the sun itself. These are the advantages.

Some of the solar energy disadvantages are the initial cost of the setup of the system. This is, however, countered by the previous paragraph as to how it will eventually pay for itself. Another disadvantage is the fact that the production will be affected by the presence of clouds or even pollution that is in the air, making it use some of the stored energy that is generally for the night time or emergencies, and the non production in the dark hours, as well. A battery backup would easily eliminate this issue and can be done relatively cheap.

Ultimately, you will have to siphon through the solar energy advantages and disadvantages to determine if it is the proper move for you to take. It is a big step to take knowing how power has been supplied for so many years but most will tell you that once you do decide to “go green” that you will definitely see the advantages outweighing the disadvantages.

There are basically seven types of alternative energy and they are Conservation, Solar, Hydro, Wind, Geothermal, Biomass, and Nuclear. In general, all of these have their advantages and disadvantages and it is ultimately up to you as to what type will benefit you and your family the most.

Conservation is simply getting the same amount of energy, with less produced energy. For example, if you have your home insulated well enough then you can keep your home, or a room, at a comfortable temperature for an extended period of time with only half of the energy used, then you have nearly doubled the energy supply. Solar power is another type of alternative energy, which is the use of the sun in order to make the energy to power objects. Hydro power, or water turbine, are another type of alternative energy where water is used to make electricity as well. Wind mills are also used to produce power from natural resources that is used to produce energy. Biomass, Geothermal, and Nuclear power are the last three sources of alternative energy used throughout the world in various ways. They are very beneficial in their own way as they are very environmentally friendly and cost effective in comparison to what they offer and when you compare them to the traditional fuel burning energy sources that are more commonly used in homes. If looking at Nuclear power, it is suggested to do extensive research because although it is an alternative energy method, it does emit more emissions than that of the others.

Ultimately, the choice is yours. There are several different types of alternative energy and the one that works best for your may not benefit the next person in the same way. The point is, you should know your own circumstances, talk to the manufacturers, find out costs and savings, and then make the most educated decision that you can based upon your own circumstances.
